Reason for weak memory

Imam-ul-Aa'immah, Imam Shafa'i Radi Allahu anhu had a very Blessed and sharp memory. They never forgot the page number of a book, where they last closed it. This was witnessed by their Blessed teacher daily.

 

However, oneday, they arrived at their teacher's place but couldnot remember the page number. This disappointed and confused them at the same time but had no answer or reason until their teacher asked them if they had committed a sin that they recall, lately.

 

They nodded and upon their teacher's request, revealed it and said that they saw a woman's arm while they were walking on the streets. That was the reason for their memory loss.

 

A lesson for the brothers and sisters who are keen to forget what they learn and then seek Du'a and Wazifah. Not saving yourself from looking at unlawful, pornographic images, etc. is a major reason for losing interest in studies and then memory loss and a major sin, at the same time, which leads to loss here and in The Here After.

 

Think, this is a possible result to ONE unlawful act committed with the eye, what will be the case and punshment in committing sins repeatedly?
