Question: What does the Islamic Jurisprudence say that when the people translate Durood Sharif i.e. SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam as Peace Be Upon Him in English... whether this translation is right and complete or there should be a correction to it? Please provide the ruling.

 

Answer: Questioner's consideration is based on fact. Peace be Upon Him is the Translation for Alaihis Salam i.e. incomplete form of Durood Sharif as we are ordered to send Blessings along with the Peace. That is why the blessings must be added to complete the Durood Sharif. For e.g.

 

1. Peace and Blessings be Upon Him

2. Choicest Blessings and Peace be Upon Him

3. Allah's Choicest Blessings and Peace of ALLAH be Upon Him

 

and ALLAH Knows the Best!
