  1. Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH It has been narrated in Tirmizi by Hazrat Umar bin Shu'aib (radi Allahu anhu), that Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated, "He is not from amongst us who makes similarities with other religions. Do not follow the manner in which Christians and Jews greet, for the greeting of the Jew is by the raising of the finger and the greeting of the Christian is by the raising of his palm. (Tirmizi)

    Woman

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam Woman Mother, beneath whose feet lies paradise. Daughter, who is the mercy of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Sister, who is the honour of the family. Wife, who is the jewel of the home. All these are facades of the great personality known as woman. The woman who had no worth before Islam. She was buried alive soon after birth, as her arrival signified disgrace and humiliation. Islam gave her respect and greatness. Consequently, as a mother she was presented with a status much higher than that of a father, and has given birth to some of the greatest prophets and saints. The beloved prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallamsaid, "Oh Muslims, the example of the following four women should suffice for every generation of your women: Hadhrat Maryam (mother of Hadhrat Isa Alai hisallam), Hadhrat Khadja-tal-Kubra Radi Allahu anha, Hadhrat Fatima- al-Zahra Radi Allahu anha, and Hadhrat Asiya Radi Allahu anha (wife of the Pharaoh)." (Tirmidhi) Let us contemplate the importance of this example. Hadhrat Khadija Radi Allahu anha was one of the richest amongst the Arabs. Once she married, she sacrificed all her wealth for Islam and for the love of her Husband. She lived a happy life with patience and gratitude. Then there is Hadhrat Fatima Radi Allahu anha, who whilst she lived in her father's home, she valued her father's love and affection above anything else in the world. After her marriage, her husband's home became everything. She raised her children through sheer struggle and graft, but her tongue never uttered a word of complaint. The status quo in society is achieved only as a result of woman's faithfulness, modesty and her sacrifices. She maintains a systematic order in the home, and her knowledge and skills can illuminate it. Whilst she grows up in her parental home, she dutifully abides by her parents wishes. Following marriage she transfers this loyalty to her husband. Once she becomes a mother, she becomes the purveyor of abundant love for her offspring. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has entrusted the guardianship of woman to man, initially in the guise of a father, then in the shape of a brother and then as a husband. Prophet Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam stated, "A woman is like a flower. Her purpose is not just to server you. Her time in your home is but one stage of her life. Take care of all her needs. Do not burden her with more than she can manage and do not subject her to hardship or injustice." Scholars reommend that from a young age girls should be nurtured to be modest and faithful, and educated and trained in the skills of life. Society is in need of great personalities as mothers of the future. It is a shame to see that materialism and fashion worship has blinded mankind, as a result of which we are leading our own children astray. Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

    forgiveness

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam Part of our being human is that we make mistakes, no body is perfect. Sometime we make mistakes without deliberation and intention. But sometime we deliberately sin and do wrong to others. It is said, “to err is human and to forgive is divine.” Both parts of this statement are very true. As human beings we are responsible, but we do also make mistakes and we are constantly in need of forgiveness. Islam states two aspects of forgiveness: a) Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala’s forgiveness; Human forgiveness. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala’s Forgiveness: Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is the most Forgiving. There are many names of Allah given in the Qur’an. Some of which are related to His mercy and forgiveness. We must turn to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala to seek His forgiveness. Sayings of Prophet Mohammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam that emphasises the mercy and forgiveness of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. In one of the prayers that the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam taught, he Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said: “O Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, You are most Forgiving One, You love to forgive, so forgive me.” (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah). Thus we all need Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala’s mercy and forgiveness all the time. Human Forgiveness in Islam: Just as it is important to believe in the mercy and forgiveness of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, it is also necessary to base all human relations on forgiveness. How should we expect Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala’s forgiveness while we do not forgive those who do wrong to us?! Forgiving each other, even forgiving one’s enemies is one of the most important Islamic teaching. In one Hadith Prophet Mohammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has commanded him with nine things. One of them he mentioned was “that I forgive those who do wrong to me.” The Prophet Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam was the most forgiving person. He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam was ever ready to forgive his enemies. Thus must not forget that as much as we need Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala’s forgiveness for our sins and mistakes, we must forgive those who do wrong to us. May we act upon this and forgive others and ask forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala ameen. Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
  7. Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam The Prophet Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallamreported that the devil said to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala: "I shall continue to lead Thy servants astray as long as their spirits are in their bodies." And Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'alareplied: "(Then) I shall continue to pardon them as long as they ask My forgiveness." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 742 Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

    Food & Eating

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH To eat in a descent and polite manner is also a Sunnah of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Food (sustenance) is great blessing of Almighty which has been given to us. It is something which plays an important role in the nourishment of the body, giving strength and good health. Almighty Allah increases the sustenance of a person who eats to gain strength so that he may be able to worship Almighty Allah, for example to read Namaaz, To Keep fast etc; Hazrat Sayyiduna Imam Ghazzali (radi Allahu anhu) has stated that the path to Ibaadat (worship) is also Ibaadat, just as the goods on a journey are also part and parcel of such a journey. In other words, anything which is necessary in Deen is also Deen. It is also definite and obvious that food is not only a part of humanity but is also a part of Islam and a path to success. If one eats and is healthy, then it would be easy to act upon the commands of Almighty Allah and the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). It is for this reason that Almighty Allah has stated, "Eat Good food and do good Deeds" The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated that a believer gains sawaab at all times, for if he puts a morsel of food into his mouth or if he feeds his family, then this is reward. It has also been stated that the person who eats with the intention of carrying out his duties as a Muslim, always eats that which is halaal and stays away from haraam. He also does not behave greedily but eats according to his limits. (Kimya-e-Sa'aadat). The manner in which Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) ate is known as the Sunnah method of eating. It is therefore necessary for us to follow the particular method when eating. By doing this, we will not only be satisfying our stomachs but we will be acting upon one of the Sunnah of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). It has been stated by many Saints, that it is preferable to perform wudhu before eating, and if this is not possible then the best one can do is to wash his hands including his wrists before eating. One should not eat without washing the hands as this is contrary to the Sunnah of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) would usually perform ablution before eating and if time would not permit, he would wash his hands. He never wiped his hands after he washed them before eating. The reason for this was to avoid any dust particles from getting onto his hands and being digested with his food. Thus, to wipe the hands after washing them before a meal is not the Sunnah method. Hazrat Wahshi bin Harb (radi Allahu anhu) states that the Sahaba-e-Kiraam (radi Allahu anhum) queried from the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), 'O Prophet of Allah! We eat, but we do not gain any satisfaction in our food.' Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, "Then you may be eating individually." They said, 'Yes we do' He replied, "Eat in a group and say Bismillah. Blessings will be increased for you in this." Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
  15. Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu) states that the Beloved Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has said, "Whosoever acts upon my Sunnat when my Ummat becomes weak (in following me) then he will be blessed with the reward of one hundred martyrs (Shaheeds)."
